The land at 304 Quay Street was originally purchased by the Bank of New South Wales in 1882. It was then sold to the Mount Morgan Gold Mining Company in 1889. The directors of the Mount Morgan Gold Mining Company envisioned a building that would completely cover the block of land. It would include a railway siding into the stores so that goods could be loaded straight onto trucks. This came to fruition when construction of the building was completed in 1894. It was leased to the Australian Cotton Growing Association in 1922 and then sold to the Queensland Peanut Growers Cooperative Association in 1936. It was sold twice more and then purchased by Peter Evans in 1974, supplying the regions with a wide range of products for the building and allied industries before closing up in 2020. Ben and Jess Kirby purchased the building in 2022.
Honouring the buildings' history, we’ve kept its character and charm. It oozes of a bygone era and everywhere you look you see glimpses of its past with an exciting future ahead. The building is now entering the next chapter of its history, as it transforms into a brewery.
